The American Society of Inventors is pleased to present a panel discussion and presentation entitled “What You Need to Know to Protect Your Invention”. The panel will present at the
ASI General Membership Meeting on January 24th, 2007 at 7:00pm at The Free Library of Philadelphia.

A distinguished panel has been assembled, with expertise in patents and trademarks in a variety of fields including
biochemistry and biology, medical products, mechanical systems, electrical and electronic systems, and automotive
systems. A wide range of invention protection topics will be covered, including patents, trademarks, and provisional
patents, but also covering ways for the inventor to perform the necessary investigation for determining if it is worth
pursuing protection. Further topics will include: what an inventor can do by himself/herself before engaging an
invention marketer or patent attorney: performing patent and trademark searches; filing a provisional patent
application; how to get information regarding the business case; preparing and maintaining documentation to prove
your date of invention; and more.

The presentation will be held in the downstairs auditorium of The Free Library of Philadelphia, 1901 Vine Street,
Philadelphia, PA 19103. The meeting is open to the public, so anyone with an idea, an invention, or a current
product that might need protection should attend. The presentation starts at 7:00pm, and attendees are invited to
arrive early to meet the board members of the American Society of Inventors. The board members conduct monthly
invention evaluations, and they bring many years of experience with backgrounds as entrepreneurs, patent holders,
business owners, patent attorneys, and engineers.
